PORTFOLIO SITE and RAMBLINGS OF HENRY ROTERING

Henry is a New Orleans-based graphic designer who loves clean design, valid code and strong coffee. A proud native of the Midwest—Henry previously afforded rent and candy working as the in-house designer for the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau. He also worked as a freelance graphic designer, played drums for a punk band, but spent most of his time planning his escape to New Orleans.

Henry is currently a senior designer at Imaginal Marketing Group—a small marketing firm specializing in Aveda Salons and Spas. Other than the obvious hobby of sitting in front of a computer for inappropriate lengths of time—Henry also enjoys: biking, drumming, travel, screen printing, the New Orleans heat and shooting darts.

NOLAist

May 14th, 2011

I am working with my friend Thom Henkel on some awesome things. NOLAist.com. We make promises we can’t keep…or not.

I’m in a Band.

March 22nd, 2011

I joined a band a few weeks ago. We play kind of a old-school-country-punk-rock style of sorts. I was a fan before I joined so I can say we are good. Well, I could say that anyway and really you are going to think what you want. therottencores.com

KeG3rator on hold.

September 19th, 2010

Sorry everyone, the miniature beer cooler/money pit is being put on the back burner due to funding issues. Turns out that you can buy beer already cold. I’ll finish this someday. (it’s not someday)

Progress?

Refrigerators can’t have holes in them.

Step Three?: This took a lot longer and a lot more pipe than expected. That is not what she said.

Kegerator G3 project now officially “KeG3rator”

August 3rd, 2010

Step Two: Gotta keep the beer cold right? Hotwire your old G3 power supply so it can do the job. (Don’t worry, I read like…3 Wikipedia articles before I did this.) Just need to clean it up and put the cover back on. (notice the LED that will replace the old power on indicator.)

Kegerator G3

August 2nd, 2010

What to do with an old G3? Flower pot? Clock?…no. Mini Kegerator? Yes, I think I will have that.

Step One: Take it apart and make sure the beer will fit.

It fits! Next up—Gather random plumbing supplies and old computer parts.

New Project : RPM Casting

May 11th, 2010

Started coding RPM Casting website over the weekend. Against better judgment I decided to use this website as my opportunity to learn how to use MODx Revolution. Well, I made the right decision. Previously MODx Evolution was my CMS of choice, that changed last night at about 12:15am when I finally got everything working with my 1st MODx Revo site. Its prolly the best thing ever. RPM Casting is a casting agency located in New Orleans, LA  conveniently  located  next door to Imaginal Marketing Group. They are currently casting extras the the HBO series TREME as well as enough other work to keep them busy 7 days a week well into the night. They have an insane amount of contacts…all on paper. We are creating a database system for them to enter in all their contacts and have new extras register directly through their website. This way Savanah won’t have to know every crazies’ Name, Address, Phone Number, Weight, Height, Age and Availability by memory. We hope this will enable them to work more sane hours….but I have a feeling they will just start doing a lot more work.
